Empowering The Leader Within Mentor Program- Mentoring helps because it guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them. Mentors provide their mentees with an experienced friend who is there to help in many situations. Research confirms what we knew anecdotally or intuitively before —that mentoring works. Best Practices that we follow include Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring™ YMF requires all volunteers to attend a 2 ½ hour Mentor Training, where they must undergo a thorough background screening.
One-on-One (community-based) – One-year commitment with a training mentor; must meet weekly for an hour.
Group Mentoring – Meeting once a week as a group. It brings together individuals that may or may not have connections and lets them learn together. They will be able to support and help one another to become the best individual they can be.
